Hi Candle makers,

4Candles Uk has a new logo which will now appear on the website and your invoices. 4Candles UK is now owned by Gentil Sayre Limited and not Gentil & Sayre Group; we are the same people just a different form of company.

The main change to speak of is the new Escentscia fragrance range; this is Gentil Sayre Limited's own brand of fragrance oil. The fragrance oil supply has been a major challenge to us as we look to have quick resupply times and an unchanging level of high quality and consistency. From September new fragrances will be added on a weekly bases with a 100% ECO friendly range being added along with a matching soap fragrance range. The addition of a soap fragrance so gift sets can be made of candle and soap has been one of the most asked for additions to the website. A 500ml bottle will be added to stock to replace the 1L bottle which has also been requested.

Getting a larger selection of candle making moulds has long been on the agenda here at 4Candles and i have spoken of it often here on the blog. I have two main criteria to fulfill when i try to source a manufacturer of moulds, a decent price, and lasting quality; unfortunately i have been unable to match these two things together and often hit a brick wall. The metal moulds we stock now are a very good mould but it is hard to expand the range. Polycarbonate is a very good material for candle moulds but can have a limited life span. I will continue to look for a solution and hope to have better news soon.

The tin we stock has proved to be a popular purchase and at times we have struggled to keep it in stock. We have now doubled the amount we keep in the warehouse to try and keep them in stock. A larger tin will be added in October. Two pieces of square candle glassware will be added to the website as well, should be in September.

Dear Candlemakers,

We have renewed our contract for EU deliveries and we have been able to secure much better charges, these price cuts have been passed on and range from £5 to £15 drops in price. We would like to thank all of our customers across the EU for your custom and hope that this comes as a welcome bit of news.

Unfortunately we do not have such news for our UK customers but it is hard for us to better the price that we already have for courier services. I can tell you that we have a new system of packaging being implemented along with more protective materials being used. This will improve the already high packaging standards we have as well as keep us rolling the orders out same-day (except when there is waxed wick in the order).

I am still working on increasing the range of moulds that we stock and you should see the new moulds starting to appear just before christmas.

4Candles UK has an annual holiday in the month of august and we close today for 1 week. The website will still be online and orders can still be placed but the orders will not be dispatched until the week commencing 17th August.

We moved into larger premises at the beginning of the year which has enabled us to still offer a very quick dispatch despite the increase in orders. There have been a few minor problems with bits missing out of orders and i apologise if this happened to you. We have bedded in to the new system and things are now running very smoothly; just in time for the Xmas rush!

Candlemaking in 2009

We are into March and it already seems to me that the time is flying by, it was only a week ago that i put all the xmas decorations away, wasn't it? Well no but I have no idea where the weeks have gone.

Anyway back to candle making; 4Candles UK is now using Parcelforce to deliver domestic parcels and a lower price is now available for up to 6kg in weight. In the current climate that is a good thing and we are always looking for ways to help save some money. On that note it has been hard for us to contain prices especially for products that are imported from the USA which with the fall in the value of the pound has seen our costs soar. The increases have been as small as possible and are the first major increases for over three years.

A new mottling wax has been added to the paraffin candle making wax, and we continue to add new fragrance oils on a monthly bases. A new fragrance range will be added this summer. We now offer a wood wick for user in your candle making and it is especially usefull in natural candle waxes which can be hard to wick, though it also works well in paraffin waxes.

The moulds section of the website is where we are concentrating this year and hopefully you will see this soon as we start to add a much better range.

Christmas is coming

Hello Candlemakers,

Christmas is going to be quickly upon us again and i thought now would be a good time to announce the opening and closing times of 4Candles during the festive season. The days we are closed and the dispatch days are as follows:

All courier orders up to and including the 18th December will be dispatched on the 19th

Packets will be dispatched up to 3.30pm on the 19th December

The website will still be available for orders after this time but any orders will not be dispatched until the 29th of December. After this orders will begin being dispatched again on the 2nd of January as normal.

2008 has seen us go through some tough times here at 4Candles but hopefully that is now behind us and we can now start to get rolling again with some new candle making materials and ideas. 2008 was a year of increasing our fragrance range which we have done but not to the extent we wanted to but we are in a position now to add new fragrances every month with any suggestions as to what they should be welcome.

We still have a new wick to bring to the website which should be with us within a few weeks along with a natural additive to stop the sweating of FO out of natural wax which will allow for increased amounts of oils. We will also soon be offering a resin that can be used to produce your own candle making moulds.

Speaking of moulds 2009 is going to be the year of the candle making mould and we should start to see a rapid increase in the amount of moulds we stock just after Easter.

Other new candlemaking stock to come includes a mottling wax that can be used to create rustic looking candles, just melt and pour.

Candle Making May Newsletter

Well maybe its a little late being June and all but we had a real scare during May.

As a lot of you already know Steve was taken to hospital at the beginning of May with a suspected heart attack which turned out to be a little bit more serious, fortunately he has made a good recovery and is on the mend. All cards and good wishes have been given to Steve and i know he wants to thank all those who sent them. He has taken to turning up in the office and does answer the phone on occasions which as he is the technical guy when it comes to candle making means we can now operate the helpline properly again (just leave a message if you get the answer machine and he will return your call).

I would like to apologise again to any of our customers who had a few problems at the beginning of May which was caused by Steve suddenly disappearing from our ranks; now we know how much we still need him!.

Any way we are now looking to build up the CandleShack fragrance range and we welcome any suggestions for scents that you would like to see added. We have our own scent maker now and he has a catalogue of fragrances that you would not believe and we have been testing them as fast as we can so we can make them available. The CandleShack fragrances are still going to be made on the idea that they will be single fragrances that can be used as a stand alone fragrance or mixed to make your own candle making scent.

We continue to add to the US candle making fragrance list with six or more new scent's each month and we accept any suggestions for new fragrances.

The Soya+ wax was found to have a problem and we are still investigating the problem to see if it was a particular batch or if there is a problem with the new formula and the wax as a whole. Hopefully i will have the answers for you next newsletter.

A whole new range is coming soon and I'm afraid that is all i can say i am not even allowed to tell you what it is a range of. A lot of people have asked and it will be on the site before Xmas.

I can tell you we are testing another wick for natural wax and hope to be able to offer more detailed help with wicking natural wax next month.

Candle Making Website

Hello Candle makers,

A lot of you will have noticed a few problems with the website over the last few weeks and i have to apologise for any concern or inconvenience this may have caused. Our server decided to take a break and we have struggled to get it back to work but in the end i decided to let it retire and we now have a new much, much, faster server so the pages will load those few milliseconds faster. I have noticed though that the image heavy pages like the dye page do load instantly rather than having the images follow a second later which is an improvement. Again i apologise especially to those who thought we had left the web and were a bit distraught.

As far as the candle making supplies go we have added the square and octagon moulds to the site with the new additives and there are new CandleShack fragrances to be added soon along with a new metal tin. We are now in the final stage of putting together two new ranges on the website and i will talk more of these nearer the time.

February Candle Making

Hello candlemakers,

We had an accident lately that saw us lose all of our ECO8 and ECO10 candle wick which has left us with a huge pile of invoices that have the wicks to follow. All those concerned were notified and the wicks will be sent out tomorrow (14th).

CandleShack have now let us have their citronella essential oil that is absolutely brilliant fo use as an insect repellant, and all it needs is a few drops per candle. More US fragrance oils are also to be added this month.

Square and Octogan seamless aluminium candle moulds are being added to the website and will be available within the next week or so.

Due to a big demand we are also adding wax and additives that will enable the making of hurricane candle shells, as well as CandleShacks Vybar that can be added to wax to eliminate the sweating of fragrance oils in highly scented candles.

The CandleShack Soya+ wax will soon be packaged in plastic drums in a solid form and it will no longer be available in the beaded form.

Lastly i would like to mention that we now get our outer packaging boxes from RePack which supply us with used recycled boxes; your orders still arrive safely and well packed but the boxes will generally have print or markings on that ar from other companies. This helps us to keep the P&P costs down and has the obvious benefits associated with recycling.

Candle Making 2008

I hope you had a good Christmas and look forward to helping you have a fantastic candle making new year, many thanks to you if you sent a card or email to us at xmas time. I realise that i have missed a few months of posting on the blog and i apologise as i always do with the same excuse which is that we have been so busy the blog tends to become forgotten. Anyway i will try to keep up to date again.

The site is still slowly being redone with wider web pages and i think it looks much better as a lot of others who have sent in emails think as well. We still have a lot of new items to add to the site and Steve is now beginning to get back to testing so you should start to see new items appearing monthly. Any new candle making items will be announced using the RSS feed

I have been amazed at the amount of candle making hexagonal jars that where sold in the run up to Christmas and i must apologise to those who missed out when they went out of stock but we just could not keep up with demand. We have now added a smaller jar that is just bigger than a tea light and i think they could well be the best sellers as they are a really nice looking candle when made.

The CandleShack fragrances can also be added to now and i expect 25 new fragrances to be added during February as well as the dyes which the Inpex guys are going to produce some new colours. The dye flakes have been very well received and if you have a colour you would like to see added just contact us via the 4Candles contact page.

I will continue with another post soon as i start to put up the monthly candle making newsletters again.

Late September Newsletter

Firstly i appologise for how late the September candle making posting is we have been so busy there has just not been enough hours in the day. The xmas rush now seems to start in September and carry on to the end of January; though we have been very busy we have still managed to keep up high standard of same day despatch and next day deliveries.

As i mentioned in last months post we are going to have a sale of a lot of candle making materials soon but as yet i do not have a date though it should be before the end of October.

The Inpex Dye will be changing this weekend with the blocks and chips being replaced by flakes; you will still get the same through dye candle quality as always in two quantities of either 5g or 50g bags.

I will post more news on new products in my October newsletter which hopefuly i will find more time to put together.

New Blog - August Candle Making

Hello all,

During the transfer to our new server we lost all the log in information for the existing blogs which has left me unable to add to my news letters.

We have now given up trying to retrieve the blogs and have instead decided to start new ones.

Several people have left us feedback on the blogs and unfortunately we have been unable to add it as it needed approving and this could not be done without the sign in details. Sorry if you were one of those who left feedback we have not ignored it and when we have a new form system up for feedback we will email you to see if you would still like to leave your comments.

All at Gentil & Sayre Group had their annual summer holiday this month and every one would like to thank those who wished us well and a great holiday was 'just' about had by all.

All the candle making supplies listed on the website are in stock at the moment which is how i like to see it. The website upgrade has been hampered a little but it is now back in full flow and you should start to see a lot of new candle wicks appearing over the next month, plus we are having a sale of a lot of candle making supplies that we have accumulated in our warehouse (more news soon on that one)
